Managing in a Dangerous World

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
Individuals from industry, the public sector, and academia are invited to submit peer-reviewed papers and proposals for symposia and workshops germane to the engineering management discipline. The Conference is intended to provide a forum for practicing engineering managers and university researchers and teachers to discuss topics of mutual interest associated with engineering management. Papers that help manage technological firms in times of economic expansion and contractions are specially sought. This conference seeks to identify lessons learned during challenging times.

PUBLISHED PROCEEDINGS
All papers will be subject to peer review. By submitting a manuscript, the author certifies that it has not been copyrighted, previously published, or previously presented, and that it is not currently under review for presentation at another professional meeting. In addition, it is understood that at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference to present the paper if it is accepted. Papers accepted and presented at the conference will be published in the Conference Proceedings.

INDUSTRIAL DISCUSSANT PRESENTATIONS
Those desiring their papers to be discussed by an industrial discussant will submit their papers as traditionally done with indication of a desire for an industrial discussant. Scheduling for these presentations at the conference will be for a longer time period to allow time for the industrial discussant to discuss the paper and extend the ideas of the paper into industrial application. Authors can choose to recommend their own industrial discussant or can request the program committee to select a discussant for them (if so, specifically state this request in your abstract submission).

SKILLS TRACK PRESENTATIONS AND ACADEMIC PANELS
These presentations are skills-based and are intended to support those needing important management, leadership, and engineering management skills to do their jobs. The presentations can be either 45 minutes or an hour and a half in length. No paper is associated with skills tracks workshops or the academic panels. For more information, contact Ted Eschenbach at aftge@uaa.alaska.edu, ted1@alaska.net, or 907-333-7817.

OUTSTANDING STUDENT PAPER
Papers authored solely by students will be considered for the Outstanding Student Paper competition. Students wishing to be considered for this award should so note in their submission e-mail. For more information contact the Technical Program Chair.
